Farewell party

After the oral test, we were speaking with Maggie Garrido (our teacher) to see us the next Tuesday and take something.

Adriano’s story

Adriano was 0_______________ up in a small town in northern Italy. Home and abroad


After a short time living in a foreign country, I noticed conversations with locals assumed a 0 …. pattern. There were standard answers to the usual questions. Most questions caused little 1 …. -it was rather like dancing, where both partners know how to avoid 2 …. on each other’s toes.

But, ‘When are you going home?’ was a question I 3 …. to answer, whenever I 4 …. my life and the direction it seemed to be 5 .… . In the last ten years, I had lived in a dozen countries. Why we need to play

Human beings are not the only creatures that like to 0 …. fun. Many animals play, as do some birds. However, no other creatures spend so much time enjoying themselves as human beings do. Indeed, we 1 …. onto our sense of fun right into adulthood.

Sugar sculpture

Most artists who 0_______________ three-dimensional objects, rather than paintings or drawings, 1_______________use of materials like stone or metal in their work. An exhibition has just opened at the Bowes Museum in England, however, where re-creations of sculptures carved from a very different material, sugar, are on 2_______________.

The changing landscape

The landscape of the world is never 0_______________ but changes from year to year. While some of these changes are caused by human 1_______________, most of them are natural. Snow and ice, for example, have a considerable 2_______________ on the environment in the northern hemisphere.

The importance of drawing

In the nineteenth century, John Ruskin, an English writer and art critic, made great efforts to 0_______________ people to draw. He believed that drawing was a skill that was greatly neglected in schools and 1_______________ that it was more important to the human 2_______________ than writing.
